Buying a Gift that touches the heart

Gifting is an art. Gifts are not a way of showing off the money you have. Gifts are a way of showing your love and concern. How much money you have spent on buying a gift doesn’t matter. Instead, what matters is thoughtfulness and emotions that a gift conveys. Which is why gifting is an art. Some people are already gifted with this gift. A few of us learn it.

How can you find a gift that touches the heart of your loved ones? Surprisingly, gifts that touch the hearts of our loved ones are not very expensive gifts. In fact, these gifts can generally be procured cost effectively. These gifts are the gifts that are created by yourself. Now, that’s not really a reason to worry. Even if you are not a very creative person, you can still create a gift that will be cherished for years.

Let’s take an example. You want to pick a gift for your mother on her birthday. You want her to feel special. The fact is that mothers are generally taken for granted. What they do for us is never really appreciated by us explicitly. You can really touch her heart by creating a card for her with your thoughts on her love and her importance in your life. You will be surprised to read the emotions on her face when you give this gift to her. And rest assured that she will count it as her best gift ever.

There are many other ways of giving personalized gifts. You can create a painting for your loved one. If you are good at writing poetry, you could write a poem. You could cook a great food with the dishes he likes on the birthday of your husband.

There are so many ways you can create a gift that touches the heart of your loved ones. Ultimately, it’s the personalized touch that counts.

What makes a gift special

If you are wondering what makes a gift special, the answer is your thought behind it. Answer a few questions before you buy a gift- Have you thought about the person you are selecting gift for? Have you thought about the importance of the occasion to the person? If you want your gift to be special, you need to go an extra mile and make sure that the gift means a lot to the person emotionally. Buying a special gift is not about buying an expensive gift. Far from it, you will find that you can buy a special gift that is not expensive at all.

As I said, your thought behind gifting matters. Let me explain this with an example. Suppose that you are thinking about buying a gift for a friend on his birthday. You know your friend well and you know that he has been talking about starting on his own for some time. However, he has not been able to take a plunge for want of guidance and courage. What do you think will make a special gift for him? You could buy an expensive gadget for him and I am sure he is going to thank you for that. On the other hand, you could gift him the biography of Richard Branson that talks about his entrepreneurial journey, obstacles faced by him and how he overcame them, along with a note saying how much you wish him success in his entrepreneurial journey. How do you think your friend will react? He is going to get touched and thank you from the bottom of his heart. He will always cherish your gift.

This is what makes a gift special. You need to keep the interests of the person you are buying gift for in mind. Give it a personal touch and you would have got a very special gift.

How to buy a perfect gift for anyone

What gift should you buy for a loved one on a special occasion? How can you ensure that your gift is just the perfect gift? These are the questions we keep asking whenever we need to find a gift for somebody we love. Unfortunately, there is no easy answer. Sometimes when we are lucky we find that the recipient liked the gift. But many times we are not that lucky. When you were searching for a gift, you liked something and bought. You thought it was a perfect gift; but somehow, your loved one who got the gift didn’t share your excitement. So, what can you do to ensure that your gift is the perfect gift, always?

Actually, buying a perfect gift is quite easy! Well, it’s surely not a cakewalk, but it’s not that difficult. However, you need to understand a fundamental principle of gifting. Generally, we like to think of things in terms of what we like and what we don’t. Similarly, when we think about gifting, we go and choose the first thing we’d like to gift. And we hope that the recipient of the gift will also share our feelings. Now, don’t you think that’s a bit too much of optimism? You and the gift recipient are two different people. You have different likings. Why should both of you share the same feelings towards one thing? In fact, it is very likely that both of you have dissimilar views on most of the things. If you understand this reality, you will never commit the mistake of gifting others what you like. You will, then, understand that gifting is not really about your liking. Gifting is about the liking of the person who is getting the gift.

So, next time, when you have an occasion for buying a gift for a loved one, think about what he or she will like to have. That will ensure that you have bought a perfect gift that brings a smile on the face of him or her and yours too!
